Chief Revenue Officer at purpose-led scale up
Talk360 stands at a pivotal growth phase, poised to connect Africans globally to their friends and family. In this journey, we seek a Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) who will stride forward to elevate our company into the full scale-up phase. In this role, you will lead our commercial team, encompassing marketing, data, and local marketing/sales in South Africa. We believe this role demands someone who harbours a deep passion for our mission and has previously scaled a startup. You will be instrumental in maximizing the growth of our customer base, distribution channels, net revenues, and the impact and reach of Talk360's offerings.

At Talk360, we are servicing millions of Africans abroad to connect them with their loved ones back home in Africa, who have no or bad internet connection. We enable reliable and affordable international calls through our app, without the need for the recipient to have internet. Role overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on Chief Revenue Officer to join our dynamic company Talk360. You will be part of the Executive Team, reporting to the CEO and working alongside the CPTO (to be hired) and Marika, COO. In this role, you’ll take ownership of our commercial strategy and execution, driving revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability across all channels. You’ll lead a team of 6 people: Marc (CRM Specialist), Heike (Visual Designer) Luisa (Content Marketer), Yash (Data Lead), Maks (Data Analyst), and collaborate closely with Dean (African Director) and Wendy (local partner marketing). Board involvement is part of the role, but we keep things practical, focused, and built on a real doer mentality.
Responsibilities:
- Take end-to-end responsibility for the commercial strategy and execution, aligning it with Talk360’s objectives and goals.
- Drive revenue growth and profitability across all markets through corresponding growth initiatives.
- Lead a commercial team of 6 FTE with marketing, growth and data colleagues and working close with the South African Team for GTM Growth
- Spearhead the strategy & oversee execution for market segmentation, value proposition development, and continuous product/market fit refinement
- Actively manage and execute full-funnel marketing strategies/initiatives alongside marketing team members, covering analytical, low-funnel activities (online marketing, CRM, CRO, ASO) as well as mid-to-upper funnel initiatives (brand, content, community engagement), while ensuring a data-driven, target-oriented, and ROI-focused approach throughout
- Steer on and experiment with pricing (rates, packaging, margins) to ensure optimal customer growth and profitability
- Identify new market opportunities and potential revenue streams to ensure continuous growth
- Set and monitor revenue & contribution margin targets for all teams and channels, managing budgets, forecasting, and reporting to focus on healthy unit economics and scale.
Who are you?
- Proven experience in successfully scaling international B2C startups, with a growth mindset, business and commercial acumen, and an experimental approach to work
- A practical strategist who can independently and collaboratively translate ideas into actionable plans, leveraging data insights and market research to make informed decisions and drive successful outcomes with the team keeping overall strategy & purpose in mind
- Exhibit founder-like high energy & ownership, with a knack for developing A-player teams and driving execution and growth by setting clear goals
- Passionate about joining a company with a clear purpose and impact, coupled with exceptional communication skills
- Experience working in diverse markets and managing teams across different cultures, with a strong commercial expertise
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, capable of motivating an international cross-functional team towards achieving Talk360's growth objectives.
